HELP ME TO SUPPORT THE PARALYMPIC ATHLETES

PARRABUDDY.BLOGSPOT was started to help find a way for “Adaptive / Physically Challenged / Paralympic Cyclists ” to enjoy riding their bikes on the Daily Route of the famous Pro Tour Race Routes such as the “ Giro d’Italia " and the " Tour de France " !

Through lack of support i have been unable to achieve that goal and unless people decide to assist there is little chance that my 22nd season will be any more successful !

Tokyo2020 Paralympics was amazing for ALL , not just those participating but those who followed via the Media !

Since 2009 several other Blogs have been created to cover various other subjects !

Below is a guide to their separate purposes :

In the main Parrabuddy is about “Adaptive / Physically Challenged Sport” and Health Issues.

Skippi-cyclist is about personal issues and Road Safety Issues.

SkippyAus is about matters relating to Oz and some personal memories from my life there.

Tourdafarce & Tourdafrance are about matters relating to the Pro Tour , Racers and some personal experiences during my various visits to ride the Pro Tour routes .

Skippy (blogging) is about a variety of issues on the Internet .

NOT ALL postings arrive in their correct area but I will generally try to separate my views on Doping and Sporting Fraud from Road Safety Issues .

Comments ARE WELCOMED since this shows that those reading are interested in the subject matter ! Enjoy comments made to other blogs so wonder why only " anonymous " posts here !

Over the period of these "Blogs" I have had visibility on Twitter as “Skippydetour” and on Facebook as “Skippy Mc Carthy” where Google usually advise postings on the Blogs as they occur .

When any of you visit these Blogs I hope I am able to add value to your day and provide a source of information if not inspiration . Please consider asking your friends and contacts to add their support as many of the Para Athletes are struggling to find the resources to compete in Events at regional Levels let alone National Levels .

You the reader have the possibility to help these Amazing Athletes in your own way and contacting your National Paralympic Internet Site for relevant info is a good start !

COMEDY CENTRAL of CYCLING ?

What is going on in the Sport of  Road Race Cycling ? We are now into the Northern Classics , after the first of the Pro World Tours , beginning with the " Tour Down Under " running through many countries to the " Tirreno-Adriatico ". This last , i had visited for a few days , suffering heavy rain & cold on the first day , which was the Team Time Trial , through a sunny weekend and back to dismal weather during the Individual Time Trial .

Not the usual weather , i had come to enjoy in past years , in fact , had i decided to go to the Paris-Nice , i would have enjoyed better weather than previous years . Italy , this year , reminded me of my visit to the 1999 Paris-Nice Tour , when the Gloomy Sunday at Null degrees and Monday , mixing Snow , sleet & Rain , in the morning , eased up and became spring Weather on subsequent days .

Today it is cold , snowy & wet  outside , for the first time in over a week . This is Austria and the first days of Spring , so no surprise really ? This time last week , i had covered 75+km on the bike in the morning , sat out on the balcony for Lunch , and then moved to the garden , to grab a couple of hours of sun on the bare torso , in a sheltered spot . Why wouldn't you , with the skin feeling warm , sit and read a novel in a sheltered spot ? Certainly a great way to relax and enjoy the scenery .

So here i am today , spinning on a bike in the house , reflecting on the events of the past couple of weeks . With the TV providing coverage of a variety of Cycling events , i am also reading the commentaries from a variety of Cycling Blogs and other News sources . One thing that i am finding this year , is more TV coverage of Cycle Racing where " Team SKY " are involved . Not only are SKY News Network  relaying details , but the other Major News Networks have joined in , giving minimal coverage , particularly where an English Racer is involved .

As it has become my custom , i am following the " Clinic " on CyclingNews . The exercises of the imagination that these people put themselves through defy belief . Adding into the equation are the antics of the people at the top of the pyramid of Power . What with relevations , of goings on , in the IOC , WADA , USADA , AUSADA , and of course UCI , there is plenty of fodder for the rumour mill !

Not every item i will add below , will create the amusement , that i have enjoyed , when i first found them and i have linked some items so as to continue the ongoing story , but i hope that they are as entertaining as the " Jay Leno Show " or " Piers Morgan Live " ?

My disillusionment is mostly due to the amount of circumstancial evidence that is piling up these years to indicate if not directly proof that the peloton is far from being even remotely clean.

UCI will tell Sky to tone it down a bit, instead of rigorous tests for the riders.

Sickening.

Ah, the hotline, reminds me of the cartoon take on it from that online cycling site

Ricco: hello, is this doping hotline, i want to win grand fondo but Di Luca enter too
Mcquaid: hello, is that you Ricco. Hang up the phone you gob****e this is a UCI publicity stunt  "

Omfg. I'm laughing, I'm laughing. From Mr. Marx, a king of reality-think, to Bush the 2nd, another king of reality-think - but of a completely different stripe. What a long way that one went! And to top it off, an admittance of sarcasm? Wow, I found this an entertaining read!

But, yeah, guys, I can't follow all the snark, but we are getting complaints.

"  I don't know about disillusioned, but I'm mystified. Why do you guys bother watching cycling? As far as I can see you're either hopelessly idealistic or masochistic. I'm not sure either is particularly healthy
You are missing what these guys are saying. They don't and won't want to watch cycling. There are zillions of us who are so disillusioned that a sport we thought we once knew and loved has degenerated into the primordial ooze of artificial entertainment!

As long as the UCI is run by the Pat McQuaids and Heine Verbruggen's of the world, and riders refuse to become transparent about their training programs, doping test results, hematocrit levels etc., cycling will always carry the taint of cheating. And who wants to watch any so-called "competition" where the starting point is that the race is probably full of dopers, cheats and liars.

If you don't find that disillusioning, I am mystified!  "

"  Everything about Landis that was mentioned in the Clinic was shown to be true. The lies and acting were called out. Floyd admitted it.

Meanwhile the Clinic talked non stop about the greater issue. Lance. What he'd done. In depth and rehashed again and again. The court cases, the bullying, the drug supplies, the sycophantic personality, the doping before the comeback and subsequently after it. Then came the talk about the rest. Plenty of riders fell to the way side, found to have been doping. All were called out.

Then USADA finally got the ball rolling when Floyd talked. He didn't hold back. Fast forward to last year and despite LA's pleas and lies stating he was a good boy, USADA banned him. Then they released their Reasoned Decision. Everything was filled in. We knew the general framework, all that was missing was specifics. Who he bullied and threatened on the side in the past and further more to that day. Only an idiot couldn't join the dots. USADA confirmed all of it. Then LA sensing his image needed to be buffered did the same, albeit after every personal sponsor abandoned him.

All that talk about Lance since the Clinic's inception up to August when USADA charged him and banned him was proven. The Clinic wasn't wrong on that. It's about human nature. Human weakness. Psychological behavioural tells. Cues that can be deciphered from simple pattern recognition. All you need is a functioning brain and some solid questioning and decent memory for recalling what happened. Not cynics. Realists first and foremost. People who couldn't give a rats rear end about upholding some lofty BS fairy tale status quo about riders rights. The Clinic see's what is going on. The obvious. Why? Because we've seen every trick and con that cycling has thought up and boy have they managed to concoct some doozies.

So if the Clinic was right about LA and all their hangers on. Right about doping for over a decade. Why now, all of a sudden, when a new US Postal has emerged, mirroring the play book LA and Bruyneel fashioned, even calling themselves the same thing and with their team leader praising LA no less in the same year he is proven to be a doping lying sycophant, are the Clinic wrong? What percentage chance do you think the Clinic has this wrong about Sky? Or any big name rider who is winning lots? Face it, historically numbers are against them being clean.

You're facing the greatest beast of all...the times. Because time is the great equaliser. If LA couldn't escape, Sky won't. It will come out. In Time. They will be judged by the times. By what they've done. By the idiot fans who aren't realists. Just like LA their facade will fade. Can't escape the great beast known as time. The only thing that trumps Time is the Truth.
Armstrong had the foundation as deflection.  "

"  Sky go one better. They own the media.

Your not going to get a Walsh type or Kimmage writing those articles on Sky.

Not going to happen.

It's really only social media laughing their pants off at the performances. Main steam media are still buying it and writing a out it if super super clean.

The only way Sky will get caught is customs. But I still can't see it happening. They've moved on from Motoman.

Logistics has changed. Transport of dope is your biggest risk. 2009 dropping into Spain is much easer.  "

____________

"  You've been watching too many films.

You are kidding yourself if you think that people didn't talk to each other at the time. You, and everyone else on the outside may have had to wait years to find out some of the details, but you can be sure that the reason Walsh went after Armstrong with such certainty was not based on a hunch.

You appear to have very little understanding of the reality of life within the bubble that was pro racing in that era.
I'm not the one who claimed to be Floyd Landis. You can sit on your rock and deflect back and forth with pointless garbage about people in the Clinic supposedly not being aware that people talk behind closed doors (basic assumption...so try harder) but all you're doing is attempting to hide your own ignorance.

If you knew what you were talking about you'd have known the 3 men I referred to were Floyd Landis (had the photos) and he was mentioned during an Instant Messenger Chat between Jonathan Vaughters and Frankie Andreu.  "

Porte spoke to Ashenden and look at the path he chose. I hope he doesn't regret it one day.
Social media is sadly well ahead of the press. I don't expect a Kimmage or Walsh type to emerge suddenly. Too many leeches and hangers on in all the cycling press. Those who do have leg room to move about are often restrained by their employer.

When and why did Porte speak to Ashenden? I've never heard that one before.

As for the minor pieces hitting the social media about words Froome is saying. His ego is out of control. Cut from the same cloth as the Uniballer. He's definitely not gonna hold back this year. Will make for some great viewing of doped up riders.  "

____________

"  All this talk of doping is fine, but we really do need to actually know more about what it is the current Sky team is actually taking to give them the performances they are achieving. Blood bags? Great, most likely, but that's nothing that large numbers of the peloton aren't doing as well. AICAR? GW1516? Maybe. Some new form of EPO? Who knows. I think more discussion really does need to go into this than what does. Or is it just that in reality, we have absolutely NO idea.
Start trawling the body building forums. Buried in among the muscle geeks are endurance dopers. There's quite a few forums and they are busy so it will take time. My problem is I haven't learned their language, so even if I understood the biology, which I don't, it's hard to figure out what they are saying sometimes.

You need an education institution pass so you too can read research and get out ahead of the dopers. It all takes time though... "

"  ...and back in the real world, Team Sky won a race.
also sprach ZaratBrailsford:

"If people want the entertainment value of riders attacking each other, stopping, attacking each other again and again, then go back to 'old cycling', which will give you the capability to do that," he said.

"If you want clean sport and clean cycling, then it's going to be different. You can't have it both ways. There's an element of reality about what were doing."

_____________

"  Brentford is hillarious. Attacking and agressive riding is only possible with doping, thus in this new era of clean cycling he has his riders just ride at the front all day long instead, preventing everyone from attacking.

Now that Dawg and Porte are able to attack like in the good old days as well, the cycling philosopher must be busy coming up with some new explanation on how this is also a sign of clean cycling.  "

______________

"  Froome looked really bad. He was pushing 105-110 cadence by the looks of it . Lower gear ratios, pulling some fine wattages....... But it had nothing on Porte. When he went, he dropped everyone with such ease it was ridiculous. Van Garderen had nothing. He did it by simply pushing a bigger gear. Same cadence as before, big gear. Richie Porte was the shocking one from what I saw. No way he ever had that kind of power riding for Riis and Saxo. "

_____________

"  The thing that should concern all the Sky fans and the team is that it was very obvious both riders could have massacred the entire squad. I mean Porte's after race story was he didn't have the legs to go with Froome. Blatant lie. He put more power down on his attack than Froome had done with his. You could tell by how quickly he gapped everyone when he went with 2km to go. .
Amazing what you can discern just from looking at TV pictures, or do you have access to the SRM files of both riders?
As to Porte not having the legs to go with Froome, I haven't seen any interview where Porte states that, so unless you have a link?

______________

"  So whatever Porte states is gonna be the truth? When did pro cyclists start telling the truth?  "

______________

"  So whatever Porte states is gonna be the truth? When did pro cyclists start telling the truth?

So basically we can't trust anything that pro cyclists say? Ok got it.

Just to clarify, what GalicHo says Porte said "I mean Porte's after race story was he didn't have the legs to go with Froome. Blatant lie"

(This may be true, but I haven't seen anywhere it says that) what I've read is the following

Having no qualms about sacrificing his overnight lead for the good of the team, Porte added: “Tactically we were spot on today. The team were absolutely incredible and it’s just a shame you don’t get to see all the work guys like Joe [Dombrowski], Jon [Tiernan-Locke], Xabi [Zandio], Kosta [Siutsou] and Vasil [Kiryienka] do to get us to that point where Froomey and I can attack at the end.

“Froomey set a hard tempo after Kiryienka’s mammoth turn and I thought I’d let a small gap go to see what happened, and that was the last we saw of Froomey, he was gone (laughs).

“It wasn’t planned but it worked out perfectly. We ride together every day so we know each other so well, and when he went nobody reacted so he had to continue.

"As I said yesterday, the only important thing was that Team Sky won today. It’s always special to get a one-two on the podium, especially given the strength of the field we had here, and we’re super happy.”

Doh, but then he's lying about all that isn't he? Sorry Trust know one......what was that? "

"  Richie Porte, the new miracle in modern cycling. All I know about him is that he rode for Contador in Saxobank and did basically nothing. And all of a sudden, lo and behold, he becomes an uphill sprinter who's even winning time trials.

I also know that today he's riding for another team, Sky, whose revolutionary training methods have allowed guys like Froome and Wiggings, who otherwise would still be fairly unknown, to develop their true cycling potential for the whole world to see.
richie was a triathlete before he became a cyclist.

did well in timetrials at aus nationals as a rider for a tasmanian amateur team.  "

Please. Can a Sky defender:

1. tell us Sky did not kick the living snot out of that race
2. tell us the field was weak?

Porte thinks the field was strong. Is he lying? Or is he being sarcastic, and saying, "Great to win 1-2 when the field are so weak?". Coz that second version doesn't make a lot of sense to me, ya know?  "

______________

"  Before I say anything, I want to make it clear I believe Porte is doping.

I have been a massive fan of Porte's for about 3 or 4 years now. Being from Australia I have got to see a lot more of his riding than what much of Europe has, and when I first saw him I remember thinking to myself that he would make it. So, it's no real surprise to me that he's doing what he's doing (although, as I said earlier, I still believe him to be doping).

If you want to see a performance by him before he was riding for Saxo, then here was his win at 23 years of age at the Tour of Tasmania - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_ZgobjFM0c , riding for Australian team Praties. In Richie's defense, you can't tell me that he didn't show any form at a young age like has been mentioned on these forums on multiple occasions. Sure, it isn't at World Tour level, but make no mistake there was some tough competition in that tour with riders such as Bernard Sulzberger, Jack Bobridge, Leigh Howard and Kristian House.

Please note that this is in no way me trying to justify Porte's current performances, it's quite clear that he is doping. Considering I have always admired him, and been a massive fan, if I can see that, everyone should be able to.  "

"  I haven't seen any interview where Porte states that, so unless you have a link?

There isn't a direct quote where he said he didn't have the legs (as far as I could find). Here is as close as it gets:

"  Paris-Nice is all you need to look at. He dopes, it's simple. There is literally nothing else to say.

And my last few posts in here show I am as big a Porte fan as anyone.

Sad times are ahead in cycling, very sad.
It is sad.

Because in the real world he's a talent.

But he's turned into not normal. He, Froome, Wiggins and going to break the Tour apart. They'll win the TTT by 3 minutes. Maybe more.  "

___________

"  Given I'm new to these forums my overall forum view on Froome is not 100% clear. But please tell me that 95% people on here think his performances since the vuelta in 2011 is the most dodgy thing in cycling since ... well, ever.

(I realise this is completely un-Porte related, but he seems to get brought into discussion here regularly)

I think people are pretty satisfied that he's legit, but you could check here to see what was actually said:

There might have been one or two who thought it a bit snaily.

Schistosomes must alternate between humans and snails to complete their life cycle. This means that Bilharzia can only caught from snails.
Uh-oh. With Froome at the Tour, every member of the French population is at risk of becoming the newest cycling sensation. Expect to see crusty old codgers on rusty bikes with baguettes sticking out of rucksacks powering up climbs at just slightly less than six Watts per kilogram, leaving plodders like Evans gasping in their wake.  "

We could also look at the blatant breaking of his own "zero-policy" mantra. The firing that happened is just ridiculous. Anyone maintaining that Mr. Knaven and Mr. Arvesen never had anything to do with doping is either clinically insane or just telling lies.

This sport doesn't need a guy like Dave Brailsford. The damage has been big enough already.

Dont know if its true but backed up by the fact that they are now giving out tasters - highlights of the classics and TA, something they have never shown before.

Quite some coincidence that their move into cycling just happens to come as Britain become, as was put earlier today - the kings of cycling.

BskyB and Rupert Murdoch cant believe their luck.

If that is true of course, which considering they will charge 50 squid a month to watch, we still hold out hope it is not.

At least Festina and CSC were only running the clocks, not the coverage. Perhaps this will be interrupted when or if the big Skyfall happens.

BREAKING NEWS ?

David Walsh a respected long term Anti Doping Journalist tweeted the following this morn :

USADA report on Armstrong and US Postal doping will be with UCI today (Wed). Verbruggen and McQuaid can hardly wait to read it.

This is the  10th October and thus 5 days less suspense , one hopes !

" Poopoo's ( clinic regular ) response to this news :

He suggested that people were already queuing for the court seats !

Later in the day , this tweet arrived :

USADA has written a summary, circa 200 pages, that will be available to public. Perhaps some time today. Thousands of pages in full report.

Meanwhile in order to pass the time , those on CNF clinic posted this gem , relating to Lance's Business activities !

It has been rumoured that Lance is now worth between $US80 & 125 M , not all from cycling obviously . It would explain why so many are after him , plain jealousy if nothing else . George Hincapie another of their targets is reputed to be worth $US 40+M , not bad for being a loyal lieutenant ? Could explain why those of the " whistleblowing ilk " are so busy looking for any opportunity to enrich themselves

With the disclosure of the USADA report , i am sure that the various Cycling Forums will move into Overdrive and staying abreast of their additional disclosures , will become nigh impossible ! During the past days we have seen Mike Ashenden release his take on some data that was in the public domain :

One of the cartoons appearing from this discussion :

Another item that came to light :

The author website/blog of this cartoon , was one of those not threatened by UCI , when they chose to act against Paul Kimmage . No doubt they will bring forth another cartoon pampooning the " prats of aigle " !

Presently the US Public is not as aware of the debate on Lance's Legacy as it could become , but the following extract will enlighten those who are on the sidelines at present :
"
This tells me two things:
(1) Team Dopestrong will say anything--no matter how goofy--to defend Lance; and
(2) This is the best Team Dopestrong can come up with.

This line of argument is disingenuous and stupid at the same time. Is Lance's target audience easily deceived morons?
Yes is the answer to all your questions. As much as it's stupid to you and me, it's the right thing to do for team Dopestrong. This is not about cycling any more than Livestrong is about cancer research. It's about deceiving customers to keep them loyal to the brand and keep opening their wallets.

Beyond this (short term) USADA case it's all about Livestrong, the Livestrong.com customer (sucked in via Livestrong.org) and the Lance endorsed brands. That's the guy/girl they need to keep loyal, and that's why Lance is still pony trotting around. And why he needs a sports event series to keep the brand alive beyond this "short term problem".

This Livestrong (and endorsed brand) customer is currently getting totally confused with what's in the news about Lance:

"Wow, did he really dope? Surely it's a witch hunt? Are any of these USADA allegations new? It's old stuff isn't it? Does it matter? But he's still doing the triathlons...? **** it's confusing! What, you are now telling me USADA is hiring big time tobacco lawyers?... That explains it... It's big dirty business Goliath trying to kill my little David cancer Jesus Messiah...."

All part of the game plan to keep the Livestrong (and endorsed brand) customer confused, ease him/her through this "noisy news time" by distracting the media signal. A new story angle every week, keeping interest up but reinforcing the same core message.

Expect more to come in the weeks ahead. All variations on a theme.

As much as this is all very interesting, what we need for cycling is a remaining focus on UCI complicity, and a cleaning up of UCI, so we can get back to enjoy watching our sport as we once did.

The day of reckoning is nigh and has been a long time in the waiting, but need to stay focused on what we want for the day after. A clean cycling administered by a competent sports administration..."

More of these comments can be found endorsing the " Unfair to Lance " and " Ban Him " attitudes .

UCI by releasing last week , their success against flandis in the Aigle court , has spawned a multitude of the following comments :

CNF Mushroom Farmers Censored !

Francois the Postman not only closed down the “ Official etc,etc Lance Thread ” , he deleted a lot of “ posts ” and good on him ! There was a lot of excess verbiage between a handful of Posters that became tedious and for most of us readers it was a waste of time . Debating is one thing BUT nitpicking is entirely with out any redeeming features . I know that there were a few of my posts deleted since I prepare the post off the internet since broadband is so patchy where I live . Disappointed to see that my post encouraging people to checkout Charles Pelkey’s Red Kite article was removed although I also pointed out that it was only one of the few interesting items that I had gleaned in recent weeks .

From page 933 the total postings visible was dropped back to 880 whilst a number of people( moderators?) tried to sort the wheat from chaff ! Initially 6 hours closure of the thread was proposed but when it eventually reappeared page 910 became the new starting point . Already we have had a couple of wags twisting the tail of the moderators to see if they will bite . Certainly the standard of posting needed correction and with the next days being Christmas and New Year I doubt that any moderator would feel inclined to spend more than a few minutes away from their family and friends .

Best wishes to ALL my readers for their festivities !

PODIUM CAFE !

Want to be taken for a ride ? All you have to do is TRY to post a comment to a Podium Café article then you get to wander around “ SB Nation “ whilst the “ Ads and other BS “ assail you ! Since you have no interest in any of this material from the USA commercial & sporting world, you are left wondering if “ Podium Café “ is worth the time !

Normally after posting to any site I leave the tab open for a few days so that on “ refresh “ I get an update to see if there is any follow up that is needed . First posted comment took about 10 mins and around 20Mb and nothing thrown at me during the “ round the houses excursion “ was worth a look let alone the cost in effort !

Some of the articles are really interesting but following blogs is about participating rather than just clicking on and reading . Whilst I have a low opinion of Cyclingnews Forum contributions , there at least getting into add comment is simple and direct .

Yesterday I tried to post a tweet and because the B/band is so pathetic in the area of Austria I am currently resting I am beginning to wonder in which Century the providers are living ! Service is not their Forte ! After about two hours of repeated efforts I put in a link with no explanation to @spokesmen about Eurosport !

During the last days the Froome victory at the Vuelta has been virtually front page news and adding to the excitement surrounding the event . Usually Eurosport is aware of critical , newsworthy events and daily they opened in the past with a resume of the last minutes of the previous day’s stage . 1600hrs was the published start of broadcast which came and went whilst a few “ Unimportant snooker balls “ rolled into holes . Then the Ads appeared which pays for what we are offered BUT THEN straight to the live broadcast ! With commentary in German I no longer attempt to listen but this day was about a breakaway that stayed away . Past years I have seen split screen of happening events with other matters being shown at the same time , so what was the problem here I wonder ?

Without access to Eurosport TV I have to go to a bar and after a long ride , Kramsach to Brennero return with a lot of drizzle I was looking forward to seeing what had been described in writing at length . Well when you read my blog you will see I was so livid about the attitude of Eurosport I went for another ride to let off steam .

Will I be watching today ? NO WAY JOSE !

Fact is I doubt I will summon the interest to watch Eurosport for some time . WHO among you gives a “ continental “about “ Yokohama” ? I DON’T !

SAM STOSUR has done Oz proud by moving into the Semis at the US Tennis Open , let’s hope that she makes history with the WIN on Sunday !

SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE ?

HERE IS A COMMENT I MADE TO " CYCLINGNEWS FORUM " tonight ! Recently they have been debating the right of a Guy needing " Blades " to compete !Who are they to debate anyone's rights when their only exercise is with a finger on the keyboard , of course their imagination leaps around somewhat during the search for something to add to the thread .

Today i was at a cycling event in Schwaz , Tirol where there were sections of the racing to include all ! Men , Women , juniors and even youngsters . there was even an australian , Liam Poole , competing in a team from Graz .

Everyone included ? No way , there was NOT ONE "Adaptive/ Physically Challenged person" there either as a spectator but more especially as a competitor ! The journalist i spoke to told me " THERE IS NO MEDIA INTEREST !"

What year are we living in ? Austria has about the best " Behinderten Ski Team " and the "Vorarlberg Behinderten Ski Team " has completed the "Race across America " some years ago !

SO ANYONE OF YOU DUMPING ON " Pistorius " for making the effort to remind the world there are those less fortunate than us LOOK IN THE MIRROR and ask yourself if you could endure even a portion of the demands made of him by those that would wish that he did not make the efforts for himself and those like himself .

Next year in London we will see many our " Politicians " sent in "Harms Way " serving their community and country once again on the sport field ! Some of those will not measure up to YOUR LOFTY standards but then they were given little choice about the way they did their duty and the consequences that resulted !

WE ALL OWE " OSCAR PISTORIUS " a debt of gratitude for his opening a door and encouraging more to try to reach an " Olympic or Paralympic Standard " and there are some aspiring to London that will not be able to go becaue of the " Rules & Regulations " that currently exist AND also the lack of funding and support from those whose only exercise is with the finger on a keyboard !

My blogs only seem to reach a few people BUT those reading them should take the time to ask their network of contacts to carry the story further .

FATCYCLIST and BLOGGING

Fatty as good as his word went to Livestrong and got answers !

Cycling News Forum as is their way have been "Lance Bashing" to the point that if "Sports Illustrated's Article" does not come out this week they may well starve to death regurgitating the innuendo and rumour that they have been feeding on the past week since i saw reference to them in "Fatty's comments".

Posted to their thread last week and got a few laughs at their expense, being thick skinned, they can say what they like ! Never considered my opinion was worth much, i prefer to let the pedals do the work.

Posted advice on cnf , that Fatty's latest posting was up and so as to avail themselves of the facts they should visit. Not sure how long it was available there but a "moderator( read buddy)" stepped in and removed the entry as you can see from visiting the link. Did suggest that the "moderator" was working with a mushroom farm and if the financial figures provided by Livestrong were too difficult then they could resort to counting on their fingers and toes !

http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?t=11749&page=6

Posted to Fatty's comment this AM mentioning this fact and was pleased to see i am not the onlt person with a dim view of their efforts at entertaining each other. The moderator removed another entry posted at the same time and castigated me for their inability to see both made before their awareness of my entries. That "race radio" goes on Fatcyclist with another neme was highlighted by several other commenters. Will post links of examples of it's duplicity as time allows. The bully boys obviously know they are repellent examples of humanity and thus hide behind sundry aliases

Cycling News Forum

AFTER posting my comment to Cycling News Forum I received a few comments which I immediately sent through to the Blog Posting WITHOUT interference. Some of those posting to CNF suggest I interfered with these comments , they were of two types ,supporting me for an attempt to participate and another suggesting I read all 46 pages of the comments before joining in their discussion.

My comment went in on page 42 , below is the link:

http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?t=11579&page=42

I copied the following comment because when you read it carefully you see that the phrase “Friends like these, who needs enemies” certainly applies !

HERE IS A REPLY ON THE CYCLING NEWS FORUM THREAD, good effort , others not so good , but enjoyed the laugh they provided.

I tried reading your blog entry. I'm not trying to deliberately insult you, but I found it painful to read. You start making a point, fail to finish, and then just move on to the next unfinished point. To put it mildly... You ramble.

I can see that you think that former Armstrong employees that sue are merely in it for the money. I can only think of one employee who sued Lance, and it was actually a countersuit. And the only reason he became persona-non-grata is because he found some "secret sauce" in Lance's cabinet and then failed to offer him an "All's cool". Perhaps Ms. Crow also discovered the same.

You probably are not aware of it, but the company you're keeping here is a diverse group. And by diverse, I mean people who have raced WITH Lance, worked FOR Lance, been friends OF Lance, etc. Not to mention the hordes of individuals here who personally have decades of experience in the peloton. We're not exactly idiots. We're not blind and if you think we're merely a bunch of angry losers, you're quite wrong. This is the best educated group of people I've ever encountered on the subject of doping, and I've been closely following the topic for 15 years now.

Perhaps the membership on this particular forum is a bit elitist for your tastes. I can understand that. But you'll have to do better than "Landis is a proven liar", because, quite Frankly, Landis' revelations are only news to us in the sense that an insider finally came clean. Everything he's said since May are things that we've long known about. And the case being built against Armstrong today? Quite Frankly, it probably will not depend on the credibility of Floyd Landis.

You've got a LOT of homework to do if you want to seriously challenge this group on the facts.

These guys certainly have a sense of humour.

Last days there have been no further comments on this thread but i guess they have started up on another with the same old same old or "SSDD" !

Regrettably I am still awaiting emails from these people on how to comment to the threads that do get the job done.

Tried not to Ramble in this post !

LAF : CNF comments and statistics

Tiger Woods was elected the “Sportsman of the decade” with Lance Armstrong as a runnerup, we have now seen “ Tiger‘s” fall from grace through a series of events leading to his divorce. Sponsors have dropped him to the extent the last year’s income dropped from $US120m to $US90m. Hard to believe that he had enough hours in the day “to play away” let alone count the money. When you are famous ALL expect you to act as a role model but each of us live our lives as we choose rarely caring about what others expect of us , certainly we do not wish to be forced in to being a role model.

Lance as a sportsman has been around for 20+ years , first in Triathlon then Cycling each a sport where he has been successful and regarded as a benchmark. Along the way he has had paid employees whether personal or Team employees and like all of us there have been “falling outs” and there have been acrimonious departures. Some of these people I have met whilst they have been employed by the teams. Some have been quite kind and helped me whilst I have been riding the routes of the Grand Tours and for that I was grateful. How they came to separate from the teams only they and the team would really know all the details but like any other event there are so many shades of grey when reported to the public.

Having been an Employer in the past I recall giving correct notice to some that either failed to perform or refused to abide by the company rules. Some went quietly and there were occasions that a statuary authority became involved to establish both versions of the event. So many of Lance’s ex employees have chosen to speak to the media and there have been benefits to them from the disclosures. In fact books have been written as a result of the half truths(fiction in some cases) and a variety of investigations have been attempted as a result . Ne’ erdowells will always seek a benefit for their “perceived grievances”, but would not even attempt to seek a benefit from an unknown “Joe Public” in whom the media would have no interest. Everybody seeks their 15min of fame and the media is all too happy to help if it fits their agenda.

Cycling News Forum was set up so that people had a chance to interact and enjoy discussing their various interests within the Cycling Fraternity. Using “Nom de plumes” these people in the last 20 months have developed a social hierarchy . They take a position on a subject and protect their version of the truth with dedication. One such poured vitriol on my recent comment based on their rank of senior member, whether that position comes from a contribution of about 3700 comments in 1 ½ years or some other criteria I have yet to learn. Seems to me that the forum is their only interest as my maths indicate a comment every 4 hrs since joining, another has over 7000 in less than two years. I was accused of not reading the 37 pages of the thread before commenting, well they were right.

Based on a few comments I sought to add to the thread, but found I came up short as those reading my effort thought I was referring to them. I had in fact been referring to a cyclist who having drunk too much beer one night beat the other races to the line the next day. Too much has been made of that incident since not only did he proclaim his innocence of the findings of the drugs , control he collected money from the public to mount legal challenges , wrote a book about it all and then after being shunned some more declared all his efforts void as he then said “I had been lying all along” . Slapped the public in the face and next he said “believe me when I say that “lance” taught me how to cheat” !

We all know the public can be fooled some of the time but saying you are a “Cheat” and been indulging in “Sporting Fraud” for years does not win you friends . Is there a conspiracy of silence in the Cycling Community ? Secrets are no longer a secret when there are more than two involved ! Do you think that a team of 25 plus racers could keep secret the events that this miscreant claims as a truth ?

Cycling News Forum commenter’s have some colourful names and “Botany Bay” sounds like an Australian and had an interesting encounter with Gino B.. I rode with Moser, Mota and others from St Peters to the church where his body was lying prior to his burial in May 2000. It was the Thursday prior to the Giro d’Italia and I had come on the event by chance. “Yourwelcome” makes interesting points about guidelines for the forum and I agree with him that charitable activities have nothing to do with “Doping” ! Innocent until “proven guilty” does not appear to be considered as a fact in this forum.

“Ferminal” can focus on some of the information I have tabulated below which has come from “Charity Navigator”, that is if she is an Aussie that believes in fair play ? Ferminal would also like Lance to put his hand in the LAF treasury and donate to the Queensland Floods Fund, he is reported to have shown knowledge of the situation and it is not unreasonable to expect he will say more when he is in Adelaide as in some 4 to 6 weeks some of the floods will arrive in Murray bridge, an area he may have cycled through in past seasons. Anyway should you twitter @PremierMikeRann you will be able to pass your thoughts along. Mike has already tweeted recently about Lance and the LAF investment in Sth Australia , if you can get away from your commenting you could get lucky and shake hands with Lance whilst he is in Adelaide. I have always found him very approachable, but then I am mostly there when on the bike.

“Merckx Index asked how to get the 10% that flandis is trying to win by suggesting “Lance and his USPS team” obtained funding by “Devious means”. Doubt there are any irregularities but when you throw copious amounts of mud there can be hope that a little might stick. For information my comments were not directed at CNF users but those outside supporting the LA v GLeM & Trek event which was settled . Toyota produces and sells cars which were subject of recall and so was the case with some Livestrong cycle trainers.

A Kiwi with the moniker of “I watch cycling in july” weighed in with some opinions of others and as for “Bro Deal” whilst he has been around for a while how he will find time to read the awaited article by SI( Sports Illustrated?) between his 7000 comments defies imagination. “Race Radio” uses the “IF” word in one of his 4000+ comments. “Anything but Kestrel” corrected my “Ne erdowell” and I would ask him to read “LAF Mission Statement” and note that since I use “Blogger” I finish up with “Adsense” simply to get more exposure as I feel sure Google want to try and earn money even if I get none. As regards a uniform that I wear occasionally, I am proud to wear it as it is the uniform of Pierangelo Vignatti”, Paralympian and World Champion Para Cyclist who gave it to me in 2007 as I was on my way to the start of the Giro. Notice the bib shorts sport the logo of “Unicef” !
“Granvill57” asks why I did not read the previous 36 pages of the thread. Mate you are right, I would prefer to read American History !

“The Hog” was kind enough to reply to my comment and gives me the feeling that he remains open minded to substantial input but I doubt that others are like him as I feel some already have an agenda that brooks no rearrangement of their fixed position. Thanks to him I was able to enjoy the SMH article which was not apparent when I checked the front page as I do daily . “R.O.t.O.” is totally annoyed with corruption in Sport and feels that Cycling has let him down? Would agree there is a blurring of the lines between “Org and Com” activities. When LAF started out I wonder who was in too much of a hurry and thus overlooked the possibility that there would be those with an agenda and take advantage of the situation. “Velocentric” also agrees on these blurred lines issue.

Professional input is possible if “MD,FACG,FACP” are credentials, and again there is support for the idea that “Org & Com” need separation. “Polish” is correct about the supposition that Lance was one of the first Sports personalities to tweet , I have yet to receive a reply to any of my offerings , how he gets through all the tweets that arrive defies imagination.

Any of the “CNF” commenters mentioned should feel free to email me on skippi@ausi.com so that I can correct any “mis interpretations I may have arrived at in reading pages 36 to 41 on the thread.

Below are some of my findings when comparing “LAF” with “Susan G.Komen” a charity suggested by a “Fatcyclist” commenter.

Some Statistics to compare:

Accounting
Year end 03/09 12/08

SGK LAF

% %

Admin Expenses 10.2 3.6

Fundraising Expenses 5.8 8.6

Excess of funds collected 3.1 13.9

Each organisation allocates expenses in a different way which may account for the above variance and it may be some of LAF projects were carried over into 2009. Charities have different reporting regulations so unable to guess what has taken place since Charity Navigator posted this information.

Noted that there are comments: had asked that "Those with an issue email, Note i am well known and Googling Skippydetour, SkippyAus or Parrabuddy will throw out a whole lot of info confounding those who claim i am anonymous. Botany bay , i recall the treky episode, but still jealous of the Gino episode, recall visiting Bianchi shop in Florence and then the next year finding it closed down, would enjoy an email convo!
Seriously folks my knowledge does need a little tweaking but claiming to be mates with Lance whilst burying an axe in his back is so Roman (shakespeare, i think(Et Tu Bruti) )!
